Cytoscape automation workshop

Date:  24th of November 2017
Location: Maastricht University, Maastricht, NL
Organization: Dr. Alex Pico (San Francisco, USA) and Dr. Martina Summer-Kutmon
Description: Cytoscape is one of the most popular desktop applications for network analysis and visualization. In this workshop, we will demonstrate new capabilities to integrate Cytoscape into programmatic workflows and pipelines, for example in R and Python. We will being with an overview of network biology themes and concepts, and then we’ll translate these into Cytoscape terms. The bulk of the workshop will be a hands-on demonstration of accessing and controlling Cytoscape from R to perform a network analysis of tumor expression and variant data.

Analyzing gene expression data at the biological pathway level using PathVisio and WikiPathways

Organization: Dr. Susan Steinbusch-Coort and Amadeo Muñoz García, MSc
Date: 7th July, 2017
Location: University of Birmingham, Birmingham, UK
Description: In the practical training we will explain how to perform a pathway statistical analysis and visualization in order to highlight biological processes that are altered based on changes in gene expression. The pathway analysis will be performed using the open-source tool, PathVisio. Moreover, in the analysis the curated human pathway collection of WikiPathways, will be used.
